Spring Training 2012: Effective Embellishing

Today officially concludes Spring Training at Ella Publishing and I'm in a hurry-scurry to submit the last project I had time to complete. Ella always has such awesome giveaways for their training participants. Its hard to pass up the opportunity to learn and enter their drawings!

The Day 7 workout was taught by Lisa Dickenson. She ran us through laps around flowers, bling, ribbon, twine, punches, oh you name it! Her tips on embellishing are fabulous!

Our assignment was to take a work in progress or a previous project, and add embellishments.

I used a framed 4x6 I plan on giving my daughter for Mother's Day and kicked it up a notch or two by adding some personal touches to the frame:

The photo: I use PicMonkey to create two versions of the same photo. I adjusted one with the Sepia setting. I used the color boost feature to sort of "over-brighten" the second photo. Then I fussy cut the onsie and ulta-sound out of the color photo, lined it up, and attached it to the sepia print.
The photos were printed on my older and very trusty HP photo printer.
The frame was purchased at WalMart for $2.97.

I used Art Phil to create the pennants. Various stamps sets were used to decorate each piece and the lettering. I love how the black Baker's Twine matches the onsie!
I will be blessed with another granddaughter, Lily Ann, in late September.

These roses were created using Art Phil and various stamp sets.
The leaves were also cut from Art Phil. Then, I crumpled, flattened, and sanded each one to give them a little more dimension. As a final touch, I added a few lovely little pearls!
